Vermilion Cinnabar
If you fancy a classy night out without breaking the bank then I’d suggest you get down to Vermilion Cinnabar in Manchester. The restaurant/bar is located close to Manchester City’s Eastlands Stadium and provides a huge selection of pan-Asian and authentic dishes from the east. I went on Saturday night, for a ‘valentines’ meal. The place was absolutely packed and the interior decor is amazing. The place itself cost over £5million to set up and there are a tremendous choice of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes for everyone to choose from. There is also a bar (Cinnabar) above the restaurant which provides the perfect setting for after dinner drinks which is perfect venue for relaxing and unwinding. The downside is that the restaurant is about a mile from Manchester Piccadilly so you’d need to walk or get a taxi there, however the upstairs bar means you don’t have to trek into Manchester city centre for a drink afterwards.

Visit South Nightclub, Manchester
Are you into your rock and roll and indie classics? Then get out of bed, sort your basin cut or Oasis style mop out, stick on your leather jackets, your skinny jeans, your battered converse and head on down to South nightclub, in Manchester. The night offers a classic indie, rock and funky mix of classic tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Listen out for The Beatles, Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, and other legendary bands as you live it up at the grungy pit on a Friday or Saturday night.
Resident DJ Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets, and Dave Haslam of Hacienda fame are the live-in DJs while Jeff Hordley who plays Cain Dingle in Emmerdale has also featured throughout the last 5-10 years as a regular spinner of the decks.
South in located at 40a South King Street, Manchester, close to Deansgate. Be prepared to drink Red Stripe from a can, and wine from a plastic glass if you are a lady.

Lounge 10, 10 Tib Lane, Manchester
If you fancy a fantastic night out in Manchester, with amazing food and entertainment then look know further than Lounge 10, in Manchester. Lounge 10 lies on Tib Lane in the heart of the city centre.
Its a 3 floor place, with a range of singers who flurry up and down the stairs singing live music, classics that everyone knows. There is also a table magician, but bring some change to tip.
It’s not cheap, but is well worth the money if you have a special occasion to celebrate. Sometimes it’s a set menu, other times there’s more variety. You may even be able to do a bit of celebrity spotting. Last time I went Emmanuel Adebayor and Boris Becker were in there.

Manchester 235 Casino, 2 Watson Street, Manchester
If you fancy a night out with a difference, then why not go to Manchester 235. It’s located just off Deansgate close to the Hilton Hotel and it’s a casino. I must admit, I’m not really a gambling man, although I have been known to have the odd flutter on the Grand National and the odd football match.
A party of us went the other month, and had a really nice meal at the Chinese restaurant in the same building. The location is 2 Watson Street, Manchester, M3 4LP.
I played roulette, mainly because I’m not good enough at poker to risk my money against other people. Roulette is simply a game of chance, and although I mainly stick to red or black or odd or even, this time I began to play the numbers (mainly because after a few too many beers I felt like I had a chance).
Remarkably, the number 16 turned into my lucky number. It just came into my head when I was doing rather badly (possibly because Roy Keane is one of my favourite all time United players and used to wear the number). Incidentally, Man Utd were reportedly having their Christmas party there the same night, but we never saw any of the players, just Z listers from Hollyoaks.
Anyway, the number 16 came up twice in about half an hour and I decided to quit the table £260 better off.

Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes
If you fancy having a night out which is a bit different, then why not try…bowling. Yes, that’s right. Head down to Bloomsbury Bowling alley in London and have a night with a difference.
Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes is in the basement of the Tavistock Hotel in London, close to Tavistock Square.
The night is really fun. You can get drunk, where smart casual attire (many people join in with the 1950s theme that usually goes down at weekends) and dance the night away to ’50s and ’60s classics. I’ve seen quiffs bigger than Elvis’, checked shirts, and amazing prom style dresses. The club has an American Diner and also has booths where you can join your mates for a spot of karaoke well into the early hours. And it’s in a great location to finish the night after seeing a show in the west end. Live bands often play at weekends.
The postcode is WC1H 9EU. Have fun!!!

The Metropolitan
I’m heading out for a few glasses of wine in Didsbury tonight and am meeting my friends in the Metropolitan pub.
If you haven’t been before, the Met is a spacious restaurant/bar which is heaving at the weekend. It has a relaxed atmosphere and some people may describe it one of the classier places to go in Didsbury. It gets busier in the summer months when people take advantage of the large patio area and outside bar, and is a very popular hangout for the student types!
Food is available and the menu will suit all tastes, just make sure you don’t each much in the day as the portion sizes are huge! If you just go for the drink and fancy a quick curry on your way home, make sure you try the Gurkha Grill, a Nepalese restaurant just down the road, best curry I have had in a long time!!

Panacea – Alderley Edge
Fancy a sophisticated, chilled night out, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous? Then Panacea is the place you need to go. Surrounded by huge mansions where premiership footballers are a plenty, Alderley Edge is the place to be for good food, lots to drink and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Booths are available if you are looking for something a bit more private and can be booked out for a bit of personal table service! You can also order food and get that Champagne flowing.
Panacea can also be booked out for corporate events and would be a great place to entertain guests.
All in all, a great night out!

Staying in is the new going out!
This Saturday I’ve been invited to a house party! I haven’t been to one of these in years so I’m thinking it’s going to be fun! Lots of alcohol, fun and games! We are even planning on having a karaoke session, where we all think we can sing like Whitney Houston, alcohol and drunken singing, a recipe for a great night! Although a night out is a good laugh, staying in means you are in the comfort of your own home and don’t have to think about taxi’s and entry fee’s, also the drinks are considerably cheaper and if you got to someone elses house party, they are free! Hurrah!

A great night had by all!
After discussing the fact that noone would be out at the weekend, due to lack of funds, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bars were bustling as normal! Hurrah! I had a fab night on Saturday and ended up being out until 3am. I went into Wilmslow to Revolution and it seemed like the place to be. We got their fairly early and even then it was busy! A lot of people were heading off to Panacea in Alderley Edge, but as they left, more people came through the door and the night went really well, with the drinks flowing and everyone having a good time. I may be heading out this weekend too, lets hope we have a repeat!!

January blues!
Christmas is over, New Year is over, and our pockets are now empty! The next couple of weekends are normally like a ghost town when you are out and about. Me and my mates have arranged a night out on Saturday, but are contemplating staying in, will ANYBODY be out? Most people have spent all their money over previous weeks, with some choosing to lay off the alcohol altogether for their new years resolutions (although this normally lasts for about a week!). As it’s going to be a girly night, the only thought we had was, it will only be the rich boys out, so we can’t really complain about that now can we!
Are you off out this weekend?
